Aaron Rinehart

Aaron Rinehart has been expanding the possibilities of chaos engineering in its application to other safety-critical portions of the IT domain notably cybersecurity. He began pioneering the application of security in chaos engineering during his tenure as the Chief Security Architect at the largest private healthcare company in the world, UnitedHealth Group (UHG). While at UHG Rinehart released ChaoSlingr, one of the first open source software releases focused on using chaos engineering in cybersecurity to build more resilient systems. Rinehart recently founded a chaos engineering startup called Verica with Casey Rosenthal from Netflix and is a frequent author, consultant and speaker in the space.

Ruth Lennon

Ruth Lennon is the director of Craobh Technology Consulting providing personalised solutions to industry problems. Ruth has 20 years of experience as a lecturer in the Department of Computing in Letterkenny Institute of Technology, Ireland. Ruth’s research interests focus on enterprise scale systems with particular focus on DevOps and Cloud technologies. She has been a member of many technical panels and committees including NSAI/TC 2/SC 11 on cloud and distributed systems, NSAI/TC 2/SC 2 on Software Engineering and ISO/IEC JTC 1/AG 3 “Open Source Software”. Ruth is a member of the working group developing the P2675 DevOps standard. Ruth’s goal in DevOps is to ensure that security and performance are seen as core to development projects just as it is in configuration projects. Ruth has worked on security projects in the area of threat modelling and security reviews. In addition, Ruth is a member of the ACM, ACM-W, IEEE, IEEE-WIE and the IEEE Computer Society. Ruth is the Chair of the ACM-W Europe.

Prior to Highmark, he was at Verizon Enterprise Solutions, where he was responsible for a portfolio of security solutions with customers in 72 countries. Omar currently serves on the boards of HITRUST and Action Housing; on the Governing Body of Evanta; on the CISO Workgroup of BCBSA; and adjunct faculty for the CISO program at Carnegie Mellon University. Omar’s certifications include CPHIMS, CISSP, FAIR Risk and CCSK. He has a BS in Electrical Engineering from Georgia Tech and an MBA from Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia.

Dr. Arafat Salih Aydiner is an Assistant Professor and Director of Management Information Systems division in the Department of Management, Faculty of Political Science at Istanbul Medeniyet University, Turkey. He received his doctorate in Management from Bahcesehir University and MSc. degree in Information Systems from the New Jersey Institute of Technology (2006). Dr. Arafat earned his BA. degree in information systems from Rutgers Univetsity (2002) and also BS. degree in mechanical engineering from Kocaeli University (2000). He worked as a Research Associate at the Center for Information Management, Integration and Connectivity in Rutgers Business school. He joined the geographic information system research team at Meadowlands Environmental Research Institute as a research associate. He served in various private companies as a database administrator, project manager, and board member. He currently serves as a chairman of the Association of Information Technologies in Turkey. He has presented his research in several national and international conferences. He has published an information systems research articles and has several articles under review at reputable journals in the area of analytics and information systems. Dr. Arafat`s research interests are business analytics, digital transformation and innovation, information management, IT/information systems capabilities, digital strategy, strategic management of information systems, project management in IS, and IT governance.

Hasan Yasar is the Technical Director of Continuous Deployment of Capability group in Software Engineering Institute, CMU. Hasan leads an engineering group to enable, accelerate and assure Transformation at the speed of relevance by leveraging, DevSecOps, Agile, Lean AI/ML and other emerging technologies to create a Smart Software Platform/Pipeline. Hasan has more than 25 years’ experience as senior security engineer, software engineer, software architect and manager in all phases of secure software development and information modeling processes. He is also Adjunct Faculty member in CMU Heinz Collage and Institute of Software Research where he currently teaches “Software and Security” and “DevOps: Engineering for Deployment and Operations.”
